I tried again using Opera browser, and was able to watch the video.
Still not seen any close up screen grabs of the units different displays though.
Also I can't see any spec for the dimensions of this device ? How big is it ? |

Off the back of the PGPSW comments on the DS, together with all the information I soaked up from their website forum, I took the plunge and bought a DS a week ago. Initial thoughts? A great piece of kit! :D The hardware looks professional and well made, the software works and is impressive in its breadth of ability and the technical back up through email or their forum is, quite simply, like nothing I've experienced anywhere else. The price too is very reasonable.
I've used their forum a few times already and every question I've asked so far has been answered within 5 minutes by DS themselves, regardless of the time of day. :D
The DS is user configuarable for warnings, speeds, display, almost everything in fact.........it's relatively simple to set up to suit your own tastes and if what you want isn't there DS seem very responsive to considering your ideas as an update.
For those of you thinking of a radar detector, take a very very close look at the DS. :D :D :D _________________ Garmin C320 & Garmin Quest |

I'm always wary of enthusing about a product too much as readers may think I'm being biased for some reason. We have always strived to be an impartial review site and pride ourselves on maintaining that.
However, I LOVE the DS! It's big, it's not sexy, it's not polished and doesn't have Tiff Needell's endorsement (thank god!) but it is excellent and does a far better job than anything else. The DS team are enthusiastic, open and welcome suggestions to improve it. It makes my car look like a taxi or an unmarked police car (looks like a Tracker receiver!) but it's the Durex of driving licence protection and I won't go anywhere without it now. I Highly recommend it. I'm waiting for Richard Brunstrom to call for it to be banned!
DS will be at the Basingstoke show and you can see for yourself, they're not hiding behind flash advertising campaigns and will happily show you what it can do. _________________ Darren Griffin |

| Looking forwards to having a look at this bit of kit, will it be for sale at the show or not? - as a secondary note have you had a read of todays (Sat 15/10/05) Daily Mail, it contains a lengthy artical on the Laser cams and questioning there capability. Mike |

The Daily Mail article was refering to the BBC inside out documentary that was on a while ago.
Here is a link to the video of it on our forum:

What is the exact legal aspect as to using one of these fitted with the laser emitters, the ownership of an active jammer that uses Radar is illegal - let alone the use of it. So IS the law different with respect to Laser -
One other thing I would like is a recording system with the capacity to retain around three weeks of data (CF slot, Lat, Long, Speed, Time and Date) - this data could then be used to "challenge" the police data in the possible chance there camera is mis-reporting the users speed, hence the three week capacity. I currently use a HDD on the cars PC for this function - So far I have not needed it but you never know - Mike |

Yes the Drivesmart POI system stores the Long/Lat type of camera(i.e Gatso,Truvelo,Safety van etc) the direction(vector) and the date and time!
If you can think
The blackbox data logger stores the same as well.
And both of these can be easily extracted with the Drivesmart PC software.
You are confusing Laser with Radar,The Drivesmart system only detects laser, camera locations etc are detected via GPS co-ordinates.
We have a laser diffuser system coming out soon and this wil be stand alone system to start with. |
