Is there an Easier way to make POI's

I am new to this whole gps and POI's thing, I just got a TOMTOM one XL for christmas. is there anyway i can make and edit my own POI's besides doing it on my tomtom. like on the computer, i downloaded a lot of poi's and they all worked, but a lot of them are not for my area and i want to build on them and submit them to the web site.

any ideas?

The usual way is with a program like AutoRoute, and creating locations with Pushpins. The saved Data can be read by a program like POIConverter to create an OV2 File that can be Copied direct to the Map Folder.

The Files you have download can be Imported into AutoRoute, (they may need to be converted to a Text File Format), and your new locations will be added to them, ready for creating a new File.

One of the easiest ways is to use something like POIEdit, which is available from http://www.poiedit.com/

This software allows lots of POI manipulation, including updating your Tomtom.
