Hi....... Having just browsed to my local web site which is not often updated, due to being out collecting fines? ( http://www.nescamp.co.uk/ ) The mapping now incorporates Start/End icon's which truly indicates that when a Mobile Camera van appears to be out of position, is in-fact at licence to site their Vans where they like between these set points (normally road junctions being the boundary between the two sites) so it may come as a shock to some folk, who are informed by their SATNAV that there should have been a camera in that lay-by or junction, only to see the camera van a mile further along the road? so be warned. I therefore set my camera alerts at about a mile, to give plenty of warning, but just be cautious out there.
Its plausible that this is common practice with all partnerships. _________________ Device:TOMTOM START 52 & SNOOPER 3ZERO

I beleive that's true in general. Often the local press will have a list of where cameras will be on a certain day but only show the name of a road etc.
On the database, it shows where cameras have actually been seen. It's assumed that the van etc will pick the same good spot (or as near to it as possible) in that road. If it's a mile long etc, there could easily be two or three positions where people have seen them.
This is one of the reasons why we are asked to submit "seen again" submissions - to get an idea of where the cameras actually ARE SEEN. _________________ Gerry

Hi GerryC.......help me here please, I try to submit a mobile siting but it does not give me an ID for the camera site, and I`m assuming that this is a regular site through having local knowlege of this area, so trying to submit the details as a `seen again`.
Should I submit this as being a NEW CAMERA ? I dont want to flood the site with say 12 cameras for each muddy patch where they sit for the same short stretch of road _________________ Device:TOMTOM START 52 & SNOOPER 3ZERO

If there is a cam in the location on our map, then submit it as a 'seen again'. If it is a new site that you have actually seen in operation, then submit it as a new cam. We don't want the 'muddy patches' unless you have actually seen a mobile operating in that location for the reasons that you give as not flooding the area with possible sites.
Edit: You cannot get a cam id number unless it's already in the database. |

If there's an existing camera shown on the map at that position, click on the camera, and its details appear in a line immediately above the map (e.g. MOBILE:8210@70, Heading:190, Single Direction - ).
Copy the ID of the camera (in this case 8210) to the field marked "PGPSW Camera ID No.:" and press the AutoFill button to populate other fields. Then change the data as necessary. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

Ok I get the idea.
There is'nt a camera marked on the map, but I know for sure that this stretch of road is patrolled with cameras, and in this particular occaision, they have pulled off the road at an access to a farm track.
About a mile East of here, is where I expect to see the van? I`ll mark that position the next time I see it there, but I`ll now mark the one I saw on 3 Apr 2009 as a new camera.
Thanks _________________ Device:TOMTOM START 52 & SNOOPER 3ZERO

It helps to keep the discussion all in one thread.
In case you are not familiar with it, there is a Search function at the top of each page. _________________ Jock

Hi Jock, I have a problem with this . I just tried a search for 'mobile camera positions' and got a mere 23,900 hits. t seems that unless you are a black belt with the search engine, (I'm not, in case you hadn't guessed) it is virtually impossible to find what you want
Edit: What do you have to do to find the other (or this) post? |

It would appear that you need to know your local Camera Partnership name, to get the local information. I started a thread, but had it pointed out that a similar thread existed?
Now if I had typed nescamp, then I would have been wiser?
Find the local name, and you should get what your looking for otherwise you'll be re-directed for not looking properly _________________ Device:TOMTOM START 52 & SNOOPER 3ZERO

Edit: What do you have to do to find the other (or this) post? | "mobile camera positions" returns only 105 hits, IF you tick the "Search for all terms" box!
"camera partnership" returns only 197 hits, "camera partnership site" 68, "camera partnership site scotland" 2 (not related!) and "nescamp" only 2. I agree that you do have to be a bit "lucky" (or experienced) with your search terms. The only reason that I knew that there was already a thread, was that the nescamp (nescafe) name had stuck in my head when I saw the first thread. _________________ Jock
