				| I have a new computer running Vista Home 64 bit my old computer ran XP. Last week i plugged my c510 into vista to look for updates. When i chose to disconnct the sat nav from the computer i went rhrough the safe removal process and was informed by the computer that yes it was safe to remove the device. A few days later i discovered that the sat nav reported that there were no maps loaded to enable me to navigate!! Last night through searching this forum i managed to work out that the c510 had a missing file ( the file containing the unlock codes) which i attempted to replicate and reinstall using notepad on vista. I worked on it for several hours attempting to follow the advice that i had found on this forum. This was unsucessful until i got out my old laptop with XP and tried it on that and bingo it worked. My question in a long winded way is this. Has any body else come across this problem of disengaging USB devices in vista. If there is a way around the problem or a download or patch i'd be grateful for that info.

I also want to thank those of you who post answers on this site as they are invaluable to those of us who can't work it out for ourselves.

				| Hi HOOPEY,
I am using WinVista 32bit SP1. I have not noticed any of the problems you are experiencing. I normally remove my USB's, SD's, etc. by Right clicking on the drive in WinExplorer and then selecting either Eject or Safely Remove.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

 Regards,

				| I have Vista Home Premium 64-bit.
For my TomTom GO920, I disconnect in the approved manner - in Windows Explorer, right click the drive and Eject, from the TomTom HOme program I select Disconnect my device and this wortks fine.

However, when I do exactly the same with my GO700 (much earlier device) it doesn't disconnect entirely, it remains connected. To disconnect this one I have to Disconnect my device, then very shortly afterwards unplug it to stop it re-connecting!

So it looks as if there's something a little bit weird with Vista 64-bit
