				| Went to Halfords & Currys today & showed them the EMTAC
Halfords were absolutely no help at all

The youth said they do not deal in external aerials

(only interested in selling brand new SatNav
  )
Currys were a little more helpful

They gave me the contact details of their Partmaster team of "knowhow experts"

Will give them a try ASAP

				| I should check, the barrel dimension for a cmx connector is 3.66mm, if you google cmx connector their are various dimensional drawings shown _________________

				| Many thanks for all the trouble you've gone to with this AJ
It's a bit baffling that the plug on your aerial measures only 2.4 mm approx

Will get back to you when I've looked into this a bit further

				| I've found this writeup by Mike Barett of Pocket GPS World
 http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/emtac.php

This is this is the same model as mine

He says it is an MCX connector

				| It has two further steps, 2.4 being the smallest around the centre pin, it looks like a bit of a universal fitting. _________________

				| MCX plug & jack should fit together then
I could send you a padded bag with some stamps on ?

Or: you may like to let me know the cost & I would PayPal it to you

				| Just done some further searches and it appears the mio external gps uses a mmcx plug which is a miniature version of the mcx and barrel size is 2.4mm, also came across a couple of sellers showing compatible lists and unfortunately Emtac does not appear on them. _________________

				| Never mind, I'll continue searching around for information
May send for a MCX aerial from eBay now that I've found that PGPSW writeup saying that MCX is the correct one

They are only about a fiver on there

Thank you very much once more for all the trouble you've gone to for me

				| Sounds like it's worth a punt. You can always return it for refund if it doesn't fit (and if you can be bothered). | |
