Thanks once again Mike, having toured Europe fairly extensively I am well versed in the need to shut down the app if stopped in countries where it's not allowed.

ALso, make sure to update the speed from MPH to KMH in the 'Advanced Settings' section :D

I uploaded a bucketload of new scamera locations in France this year. Touring off the Peage I found the darn things are breeding like Tribbles. I wonder if Les Frogs publish a database that could be uploaded (probably not).
Anyway, becoming ever more essential there.

CAMERALERT running on an old phone out of sight, day phone in cradle by window for the Gendarmerie to peruse at their leisure.

Every time I start the app I get told I'm not using the latest database however the screen tells me Server 23.093 (50469), Device 23.093 (50469) so the same?
Also I'm returning to Cameralert after tomtom's latest update and I seem to remember you could overlay this so that I could navigate with google but have Cameralert warning/average speed etc floating over google.
Or is that another app that I can't find?
Thanks

Might be worth uninstalling and reinstalling the app or at least clearing the app's cache?

As for the persistant overlay, that may have been Speedtrap Alert

Do you know who has an apk I can download as I get

"Speedtrap Alert
Focus on driving
Page not found

It looks like the page you're looking for doesn't exist. It might have been moved or deleted."

from your link?

Thanks Fred

Go here and the APK download is labelled 'download'

https://speedtrap-alert.com/

By default most phones block APK installations but you can enable it, then disable again when done

When I click the download button it downloads 1.8mb then sticks at that. I found the same file somewhere else an loaded it. I can sideload apk files on my phone usually.

Some progress, took a few hours to download. Installed on moto edge 40 and looks like it may work but not allowed to have pop ups. On Samsung s24 popups allowed and looks like it may work.
Thx for all the suggestions, got there in the end.

It seems Dropbox has an issue so I've downloaded it and put it on Google Drive

Hopefully this link works :

Go to the App's settings (tap and hold, then choose app info) and scroll down to 'Advance' and there should be a 'Display over other apps' option. Make sure that's allowed.

There is indeed a Display over other apps option however on the moto edge 40 it refuses to allow it to be switched on. It gives 'App was denied access'. Tried looking on motorola site for instructions to allow restricted access but no joy.

Does it allow it for other apps? eg Facebook Messenger? I'm wondering if it's a security limitation for apps installed outside of the official stores?
