|
|
| I'm too new to pocket PC to get a handle on what I really have and hopefully you can help. I have a iPaq H3800 series Pocket PC and a Pocket CoPilot Jacket that I'm trying to get to work with Microsoft Pocket Street 2005. I don't have nor know if I need a driver for the GPS. At this point in time, I only know that it does work. My questions are, do I need to install a driver for the CoPilot on the Pocket PC or will this combination even work? |

You don't need a driver. The jacket exposes a COM4 at 4800 NMEA _________________ Lutz

Does it have a patch (flat) antenna or a helix (round) one? _________________ Lutz

| It has a round one. If not mistaken, this is an older model and I haven't been able to find much information on it. |

It's not a CoPilot Emtac jacket then but rather a Navman jacket (just rebranded) . In this case you do need a driver. Incidentially the driver is available from our downloads page. _________________ Lutz

| It does have a Navman sticker on the inside. When going to the download page, the only driver I see is the SerialDriver_3_1_6.zip and this says it's only an update. Is this the one that I suppose to use or am I in the wrong spot? |

| I use Activesyc to copy it over to the iPAq and if I try to run it, it says that there is no application associated with it. Run the file first and open the file from within the application. |

Sorry, you need to unpack the CAB file from the ZIP, then copy the CAB file over to the Pocket PC and execute it there. _________________ Lutz

| I was successful in installing the driver but still no luck. I have tried each one of the com ports and get the same error, that the com port is available but not receiving a signal from the GPS. When I look at the Expansion Pack Information the description says Navman GPS and Compact Flash type II. I don't have a CF card in the unit. Do I need one? |

Not now - this is for later once the jacket is working. Then you will need a CF card to store the maps.
There is a chance tha the driver is not properly installed. Try following the instructions here

| I did as the instructions said but still no luck. There is one other thing that I noticed. There is a footnote on this page *this does not update the driver for Travroute's Pocket Copilot. Please consult your softwarevendor before installing this driver. This CoPilot came with Door to Door CoPilot. I'm thinking this is going to make a difference. |

I seem to remember you need to use version 3.0.7 , not 3.1.6. Not sure though _________________ Lutz
